This adapter converts the connector on the end of a standard TOSLINK cable to a Mini-jack optical plug. There are two common types of optical connector, TOSLINK and Mini-jack. Many smaller devices such as MP3 players, CD players, Minidisk players and some PC sound cards use the Mini-jack type connector.
The Mini-jack optical connector is 3.5mm in diameter and many devices use a multi-purpose socket, such as the Mac mini, iMac, MacBook, MacBook Pro or Airport Express, which double up as both as headphone socket and also an optical Mini-jack. |
